Memoria is completely made out of the memories of the Straw Hat Pirates, from their childhoods to their previous adventure. In order to regain their powers, the Straw Hat Pirates must explore the island and a startling new world called Memoria. Left weak and unable to travel home with their battered ship, the team must recover their abilities if they ever want to leave the island. However, an evil sorceress steals the Straw Hat Pirate's powers and puts them into a cube, shattering it and spreading the power across the island. In this game, Luffy and his crew run into a storm and are washed ashore on a mysterious island.
Together, this group of pirates looks to conquer the seas, defeating anyone who dares to stand in their way. Just like in the manga and other games like One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, One Piece Odyssey is all about the adventures of Monkey D. Toting both a new story and lots of callbacks to the anime, this is a JRPG that any fan of One Piece will want to play! Main Game Features Playing as Luffy and his beloved team of pirates, you must explore a mysterious new island and recover your memories after they are scattered around the land. This game transforms the pirate-themed antics into an open world experience, which is something fans have been really looking forward to for a long time. And luckily, if one character dealt with their enemies early, I was able to direct them to help out nearby allies and wrap things up more quickly.One Piece Odyssey is based on One Piece, an extremely long and popular anime and manga series with millions of fans.
It was also nice that every character got their time in the spotlight, as I was compelled to use them equally to get through encounters, whereas in traditional JRPGs it might be more expedient to just take out the enemy using my most powerful characters and make short work of the enemy. Importantly, this did wonders to make combat encounters more closely reflect fighting sequences in the anime, where all members of the Straw Hat Crew are strong enough to swat aside numerous enemies on their own and show off their mad skills. While combat is still turn-based with standard attacks, more powerful skills or special abilities that can be activated a limited number of times, and consumables that can be used up, each character was sorted into four different zones and faced their own slate of baddies instead of fighting as a group. One of the major ways One Piece Odyssey mixes up the stock JRPG formula is by doing away with the standard turn-based battle system where your party squares off against a rival group of enemies.
